Search Committee Update

St Andrew’s Episcopal Church
Search Committee Newsletter
December 2008

Once again, we thank everyone who participated in the parish survey. Attached is a summary of the results of the survey as they relate to the Rector search. In addition, the complete survey results can be viewed as part of the recently updated Parish Profile. The survey information was essential in completing the two most important components of the applicant package: St. Andrew’s Parish goals and the four fundamental responsibilities of the Rectors job (see attached).

November was a pivotal month for our search for a new Rector. From our first search committee meeting August 6 through the end of November, the search committee, in partnership with the Vestry, and parishioners has been preparing all the documentation the Church Deployment Office (CDO) requires for the initial job posting. The documentation packet is very thorough and, once posted, is intended to begin the screening process right away. Applicants need to be serious in order to pursue this layer of the application process.

At this time, the posting package has been approved by Brian Nordwick, Diocesan Deployment Officer! The application package is expected to be posted on the nationwide Church Deployment Office website the week of December 15th. In addition, interested applicants are encouraged to go to our website www.saintandrewsbenlomond.org to find information about the Rector position, the updated Parish Profile, this current newsletter that describes the search process status, and application contact information.

The search committee expects to receive the pre-screened applicant responses from the Diocese of El Camino Real after Bishop Mary, Brian Nordwick and others have reviewed them. We expect to receive the Rector applications from the diocese by mid-January 2009. Once received, the search committee will begin the sensitive work of reviewing both the resumes and responses to specific questions that were asked in the job application.

We appreciate all prayers and good thoughts as we continue our search for our next Rector.

Your search committee servants,

Shealagh Devlin, Rochelle Kelly, Gene Kodner, Jean Templemen, Ray Wentz, Maggie Williams,
